Museum of Music_
sun patterned routes in the interior
This small music museum is going to be located next to the Opera House of Thessaloniki in a very peaceful and with a very nice view site.
The basic idea was to create an architectural promenade through a continuous ramp where the two collections are going to be displayed. The two collections are housed in two elevated cubical volumes "levitating" above water, that consists a reference to the sea that is very close to the site. The two volumes are connected with a ramp, so the visitors are moving a specific spiral route from the permanent to the temporary exhibition.
Specific importance is given to the lighting of these spaces, where has been a inversion to its study and design. Instead of the typical openings on the vertical exterior walls, there are openings on the ceiling following the plan of the ramp inside allowing the light enter in peculiar patterns indirectly. In addition to this, there are openings on the ground floor too, allowing a view of the water downside. The rest of the spaces of the Museum are open to the spectacular views of the sea.
